Outstanding Chapter and Advisor Awards

020921-Outstanding Advisor

Every year, NEHS is honored to be able to award both the Outstanding Chapter and Outstanding Advisor awards to deserving members of the NEHS community. Both the Outstanding Chapter Award and the John L. Manear Outstanding Advisor Award have application deadlines of April 24, 2023.

Outstanding Chapter Award

The NEHS Outstanding Chapter Awards are designed to recognize local chapters that have exhibited outstanding motivation, creativity, and service in the preceding year. Award recipients will receive a check for $250 and a certificate. Winning chapters will also be highlighted in the NEHS Museletter blog in the fall.

Any active chapter is eligible to apply for an Outstanding Chapter Award, but no chapter may receive an Outstanding Chapter Award in consecutive years. Active chapters may use relevant information assembled for a Project Grant application when applying for an Outstanding Chapter Award. Specific application requirements are posted with each award description. Submissions due April 24, 2023.

Outstanding Advisor Award

Chapter members, faculty colleagues, or administrators wishing to nominate an NEHS Advisor for the Outstanding Advisor Award should submit necessary documentation by April 24, 2023. The John L. Manear Outstanding Advisor Award recognizes NEHS Advisors who have given exemplary service leading their chapters for at least three years. Outstanding Advisor nominations should not come from Advisors; rather, members of the chapter, school administrators, fellow faculty members, or parents should initiate the process.

Nominees must have completed a minimum of three consecutive years as Advisor of an active chapter. Nominations must include three letters of recommendation:

  1. from a student member of NEHS,
  2. from a colleague, and
  3. from an administrator.

The winner of the award receives $500 and a certificate. Additional awards of $250 will be available to recognize the contributions of other nominees.
