NEHS Philanthropy

Every year the National English Honor Society makes a significant donation to a non-profit or charitable organization working to promote literacy in or near to the city hosting the Sigma Tau Delta annual convention.

In 2022, NEHS was proud to donate $3,000 to Books for Keeps, an organization providing free books to children across the state of Georgia. Books for Keeps works to stop “summer slide,” the learning loss suffered by many students while they are away from classes during vacation time, by providing free age-appropriate books to more than 700 elementary school students. This program has expanded to provide free books to students year round!

The donation made by NEHS at the Sigma Tau Delta convention in Atlanta contributed to Books for Keeps’ almost 110,000 donated books and the renovation of its new Bookmobile, which brings books to book fairs and schools across Clarke County, GA.

NEHS will continue its philanthropic efforts this year by making a donation to a literacy focused non-profit organization based in Denver, CO.
