COVID-19 Updates

COVID-19 Impacts Continue

While colleagues in the Central Office hoped to return to work May 1 and process affiliation fees, membership fees, and new chapter mailings, the state of Illinois has extended stay-at-home orders until later in May. Additionally, we are finding that many membership packets sent earlier in March have been returned; schools are not accepting packages and UPS has returned them to us. It may be necessary to delay all shipments of chapter materials until August. We apologize for any inconvenience; we will keep chapter advisors informed throughout the coming months when we are able to resume normal mailings. Please email with any questions.

Membership Enrollment

A special message to all NEHS Advisors has been posted on the NEHS website concerning membership and fee payments. We remain committed to our support of chapters throughout this crisis. We know you are tackling the challenges of e-learning with grace, patience, and integrity. It is heart-warming to see so many messages honoring the dedication of educators during these challenging times.

Virtual Meetings

We know some chapters have been very creative finding ways to hold virtual meetings and continue the work and, perhaps more importantly, the camaraderie of NEHS membership. We would love to share some of the ways chapters are meeting the challenges of “distance meetings” as we all navigate these uncharted waters. Please send your ideas to¬†and we’ll share with the full NEHS family. Thanks!
