As announced earlier, the Merit and Collegiate scholarship application window will open December 9, 2019, and will close January 21, 2020.

Funds have been added to both categories; Merit scholarships (based on the Common Reader) now are funded to $47,000 and Collegiate scholarships (need-based awards) to $20,000. While applicants do not apply for a specific Merit scholarship, the NEHS website does present a chart of how finds are distributed over a range of categories—the Advisory Council carefully reviews all scores achieved by applicants before making decisions about amounts to be given.

The prompts for the Merit scholarships have also now been published. NEHS members interested in applying for this category must have read A Place for Us, by Fatima Farheen Mirza in order to write about one of these prompts.
