Congratulations to Kelsey Frishman (Dave Barry Chapter at Coral Reef Senior High School, Miami, FL), Ryan Lam (Dave Barry Chapter at Coral Reef Senior High School, Miami, FL), and Nikolai Weichbrod (Urbana Hawks Chapter at Urbana High School, Ijamsville, MD), NEHS members whose poems were selected as the best representations of the theme of “Beginnings and Endings” submitted in October. Poems from NEHS Advisors Natalie Rebetsky (Linganore High School Chapter at Linganore High School, Frederick, MD), J. Scott Shields (Black Hawks Chapter at Williams Field High School, Gilbert, AZ), and Scott Richburg (Robin Goodfellow Society Chapter at The Montgomery Academy, Wetumpka, AL) also were selected for publication.

Over twenty entries for the October Poetry Challenge were received from students and Advisors; the entries selected by members of the Advisory Council will be published soon in the NEHS Museletter. November entries, focused on the theme of “Courage and Heroism,” must be submitted by November 15. The December theme is “Friendship.” Each month, the best of the entries will be published; at the end of the school year, the Advisory Council will select the most outstanding, garnering for the writers monetary awards.
