NEHS Scholarship Opportunities

103018-Scholarships

The NEHS scholarship application season approaches! Graduating NEHS seniors from chapters in good standing are eligible to submit applications for the Merit Scholarships or Collegiate Scholarships, the latter based on financial need. Merit Scholarships are based on the Common Readers selected for this year while Collegiate applications require letters of support as well as a personal narrative.

During the September Sigma Tau Delta Board of Directors’ meeting in St. Louis, MO, budget proposals were submitted for approval, including a request to increase funds for NEHS Merit Scholarships, both in the number of scholarships available and in amounts, bringing this year’s total to $50,000. Additionally, up to $15,000 has been allocated for Collegiate Scholarships, which are based on financial need.

Merit Scholarships

Merit Scholarships are competitive awards that are available for those members from active chapters who submit essays written on one of this year’s Common Readers, Everything I Never Told You, by Celeste Ng or The Samurai’s Garden, by Gail Tsukiyama. Students submit an essay based on NEHS-provided prompts.
