Intellectual Freedom Challenge Deadline October 22

This competition is exclusively for junior and sophomore members of active NEHS chapters. The Intellectual Freedom Challenge invites NEHS members to submit well-reasoned, argumentative essays about the use of controversial texts that have been or may be challenged due to theme, content, or language. Successful students receive book gift certificates as well as a monetary Crafton Award. Essays will be accepted from September 4 through October 22, 2018.

This program is held in conjunction with the American Library Association‘s annual celebration of Banned Books Week, scheduled this year for September 23-September 29, 2018.
